How do I know if Somatic Experiencing is for me?
3

What should I expect during a Somatic Experiencing session?
4
Initial sessions include 30-45 min of education about the theory of SE, followed by a short practice. Sessions vary because they are customized based on the client and their nervous system state. They may include: sitting in a chair, lying on a massage table, sitting/lying on the floor, and/or movement. Most sessions include gentle touch, which is always over clothing - you will remain clothed even if you are lying on the massage table.
Is Somatic Experiencing the same as therapy?
5
No. Many people find SE complements or enhances mental health care, but it is not a replacement for therapy. My work is not appropriate for those who are experiencing acute mental health concerns.
